Lost in Durham Trying to Find Beer
Couldn’t find the Triangle Brewery. I think I must have gotten there 5 or 10 minutes past 6:30, but all I found was lots of TROSA moving vans, a big open warehouse with Southern States feed bags but no people, and lots of chain link fences. Did see the SEEDS kids working in the garden. No local brew for our friends this time. I saw some photogenic silos but, sadly, did not have a camera. Maybe next time.

Is that over on Pearl Street? That’s what I love about Durham - there are so many undeveloped areas right in the middle of town… reminds me (fondly) of Greensboro sometimes… It’s great that we have all the amenities we do, yet we still have grass and trees. I love it, I say!!
Thanks to Google Street View, I can show you how to get inside the fence to pick up some delicious brew:

If the gate in the foreground isn’t open (left side of image), you have to give the brewers a call and they’ll let you in. They’ll also meet you at the loading dock in the background (just to the right of the red truck in the picture). If they don’t, you can go in through that door and head to the bar where they’ll be happy to fill up your growler.
It is on Pearl Street.
Thank you for the Street View! Yup, I drove past that one about 5 times. Now I know for next time!
So, I had the same problem until I called and a dude waited outside for me and directed me in. They said they purposely didn’t label the brewery because… they didn’t want burglars and such to know it was a brewery.
It’s behind the chain-link fence, which is opened during the tours. You go through the fence, they direct you past this loading dock, then all of a sudden, you’re in.
I invited two friends from Cary who met me at the brewery one Saturday. Driving through the neighborhood, they called me in a panic, thinking “Oh gosh, we’re lost in Durham…” I had to calm them. Apparently, they don’t understand the charm of Durham.
I’ve learned that if you get lost in Durham, just keep driving & you’ll circle back around to a landmark you recognize.
You’ve inspired me to try again!
