New Moo
Did you vote to name the new calf at the science museum?
I will be surprised if “Zipline” doesn’t win because the default selection is always on that name. I kind of like Brown Jack, though. Or Max. If I can’t write in a vote, that is, because I really think we ought to call him New Moo.

I’ve never been a fan of their limited list of choices for naming animals. I wish they’d just throw it wide open to everyone. I think “COW” would be an excellent name! I voted for Max.
Apparently some schoolkids raised the money for Brown Jack-Max-Zipline and made the first cut of names.
But it’s better than the birthday party animals. The kids asked what one of the animal’s name was, and the presenter said Program Animal B. Poor little no-name reptiles!
Hi,
As Director of Membership Advancement at the Museum, I’m not going to weigh in on the name selection, other than to say that the procedures for naming are definitely subject to much internal debate before we bring them public.
I wanted to thank this blog for giving us such great positive support! We’re not making this public until January, but I’ll let We Love Durham readers know that our Animal Department has begun blogging. You can all check it out at http://mlsanimaldepartment.blogspot.com/
If you come by our blog, please leave a comment - our keepers love to see what you think! In fact, if you want to comment about the naming process, here’s a blog post about the new calf: http://mlsanimaldepartment.blogspot.com/2007/11/creature-feature-new-jersey-calf.html
Thanks for your continued support and membership!
