Drought, Still
Driving down 751 past Jordan Lake hits home that we are really in a severe drought. One side of the bridge is a receding puddle; the other, a stream surrounded by bright green new grass growing in the lake bed.

Drove over that same bridge this past weekend. Really disturbing; I’ve never seen it so bad. Got a few pictures, which you could post if you want (send me email).
I added the photos. Thanks for sending those! The water, of course, should be up next to the tree line…
That is absolutely nuts!!! Where the heck is all the water??
Yeah, I’m thinking back to the grade-school chart showing the water comes down from the sky as rain, rolls down the hills into water sources, and then gets evaporated. I’m wondering where it got stuck in the process. Seems like the clouds keep getting gray and trying to rain, but then it blows by us.
Wow, what pictures. Well-drilling companies are going to do well (ohmygod, I totally didn’t mean that) if the rain doesn’t come.
Thank you for sharing!
Thats some mighty fine looking grass though
Isn’t it a really pretty new green? That was a while ago, though; I bet it’s not still so green.
that is an awful sight…..had the same feeling driving past falls lake last week. An inch of rain is a drop in that gaping hole.
I hope you don’t mind if I link to these photos from my blog?
Thanks!
[...] Saturday was dreary and cold. Then it started to rain. And I was happy. I was happy even though it was dark, cold and wet because, well, we needed to get wet! We need to get drenched! [...]
