50 Books at a Time
The Durham County Library updated their policies on September 4th to allow you to check out 50 books at a time. They reinstated the grace period and lowered fines.
And this! RosettaStone online free (English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Russian, Latin American Spanish, Spain Spanish) with your card barcode. I’m experiencing serious library love here.

This is AWESOME!! Oh, how I’ve wanted to go beyond the demo version of Rosetta Stone! Durham Library, we love you. We Love Durham, we love you. :)
And we love you, gentle commenter! :D
I thought we were crazy but I guess there are other people who suffer (or will ) of library addiction. :)
If they are going to keep providing services like this, it looks like I may have to bite the bullet and finally pony up to become a lifetime friend of the library. Just the 10 books I have at home right now are worth it.
Good point, Charlie. Just the money I will save in late fees over the next month are worth it. We do books for the classroom and for each family member, but not on the same days, so it’s quite a management issue, hence the late fees.
I really do love that you can visit the Durham Library website to renew books you’ve borrowed. While you’re there, you can check other branches’ holdings and submit a request for transfers to your local branch. The last time I requested a transfer from the main library, it was at my neighborhood branch the next day, around lunchtime. The Durham Library rocks!
I’m starting a new blog called We Love Durham County Library.
