…we followed the crowds into the American Tobacco Campus. I cannot believe we hadn’t made it there before (we had tried, but parking was always an issue). My big (maybe only) complaint about Durham is that there isn’t a central gathering “lawn.” I was wrong. Grass… riverwalk… coffee… rumored wireless… waterfalls… food… people-watching… Here it is! If they could put that Locopops that’s coming to Downtown Durham here, oh, we’d be happy happy camper.

Glad you found the campus, and hope to meet you at one of the Friday evening concerts there this summer. When my wife and I first moved to NC, Carrboro was our home and we were regulars at the Thursday-evening concert series at Weaver Street Market. When we could no longer spread a blanket and sit care-free while our young daughter danced to the music, we left the crowds and became regulars at the Friday-evening bluegrass sessions at the Carolina Inn. But that, too, got too crowded. Now we live in Durham, and now we enjoy the music and food and space and security of the ATF. We love Durham!
i’m much happier that locopops will be inside the loop, and not in ATC.
Disappointed also that ATC moved their summer shows to Friday nights, in direct conflict with the West Village Music Maker shows. The good thing about West Village shows is that you can bring your own food and drink (no more $5 beers), and they provide grills if you want to cook. The space is much more intimate as well.
The series starts on June 11, with Cool John Ferguson and Macavine Hayes.

Looking forward to it, Anton! We made a similar trek, so maybe we met at WSM before.
Barry, we went to that music series last year and I enjoyed it. Thanks for the updated link! We also enjoyed the music at Brightleaf last year. I am looking forward to seeing what the scene is like in the loop when they finish the streetscaping (soon!). There is a lot going on down there! :)
